The best way to enjoy the show is to arrive in the town at 5pm before the roads start to close. The Glastonbury Carnival is completely free but please remember to donate to local charities collecting at the event and help keep the carnival running. The pre-procession will then start at 6. You can also hire a motorhome in Glastonbury and stay in some of the local campsites to avoid the tourist crowds and to easily visit the local area.

And guess what? The carnivals are free! However, please do give generously to the collection floats, which benefit many local charities. All the action gets underway at around 7.

It is an amazing spectacle and well worth a visit. Measuring up to 50ft long, the carnival floats and walking entries are the spectacular results of months of hard work and dedication by the many Somerset carnival clubs. The sheer size, sound and colours fill the streets from pavement to sky.

Somerset Carnivals are definitely not just for kids! Following the success of our Carnival eating options at Abbey Tea Rooms in the past, we hope to be organising the pre-carnival meal again for to be confirmed. Choose something yummy from the menu of traditional, home-cooked, 2 course meals with a glass of wine, while you wait for the fun to begin.

Glastonbury town is just a few minutes away or you could try Wells Carnival 6 miles , Shepton Mallet Carnival 8 miles or Bridgwater 15 miles. Please note that there is a 2 night minimum stay for this weekend.
